Care Homes Come to Visit for a Ballet

On Saturday, instead of normal classes as it was Half Term, we pulled back together our Secret Garden Ballet performance by kind permission of the London Children’s Ballet that we performed at the Anvil in July.

The children did a great job of remembering choreography not done for a few months and re-setting for those dozen or so students that were away on holiday.  We also used our new in-house “theatre” for the first time and everyone worked really hard to put the production back together in a few hours.

Our visitors came from Applewood Care Home in Bramley, Braeburn Care Home near Reading and Homefield House Basingstoke.  We had a sizeable audience and then after the 40 min ballet; tea, biscuits and cupcakes were served to our elderly guests.

They all seemed to think the ballet very charming and many have asked for us to invite them again for other performances or for us to go and visit them too.  Sadly Naomi’s House, The Priory Group and Basing Field Care Home couldnt join us but we will make it up to them by visiting them – sometimes these residents are just too unwell to come out for visits or dont have enough staff on the day.

It was a lovely afternoon of entertainment for people that dont get out very often let alone to the ballet and the children all enjoyed being part of it.

Thank you to everyone who helped to make it happen including volunteer staff and parents
