Additional Solo qualified for Dance World Cup 2020
June 30, 2020
We may not be able to actually go to the Dance World Cup finals in 2020 (would have been there now in Rome) but they have been postponed to next year and we have now found out that Kirsten has also qualified along with our groups and duet to go to the Finals and compete in the MINI SOLO HIP COMMERCIAL section – we are so chuffed for her. Thanks again to our choreographer and coach Dan Keen.
Destination unknown though for 2021, as we may have to wait until Oct to discover where and when! Let’s all hope things can run again properly next year in safety 🙂
Well Done Kirsten !
Slightly old but good news post !
April 17, 2020
Leanne was awarded a three month Perfect Motion associate scholarship early this year in the Perfect Motion competition we did – and with all the hecticness of last term then the sudden drastic changes this announcement has been sitting in my inbox ! She also had a place in Dance World Challenge in Portugal that she declined but it was cancelled anyway sadly. Go Leanne!
Good News in Lockdown!
April 17, 2020
Just a quick good news shout out that despite lockdown, Amelia and Millie have been accepted to return as London Ballet Associates in September. Well Done girls ! They were assessed based on their last class before we all got sent home – here’s hoping we all can get back into our studios soon – but in the meantime STAY SAFE ! xx

TEAM B.A.D. will be at Dance World Cup 2020
February 6, 2020
We are really pleased and proud to announce that we have three dances qualified to compete at Dance World Cup Finals in Rome this Summer as part of Team England.
All choreographed by Dan Keen, in the Commercial category, we have our GAGA BAD CREW (Large Group), The Power of Spice (Small Group) and Naomi and Amelia’s Duet. So we will have 35 dancers aged 8-21 competing as part of TEAM ENGLAND in Rome this Summer. Everyone is very excited!
Well Done to all involved
It is going to cost each dancer about a £1000 each to go, what with entry fees, Team England kit, travel, accommodation and costumes, so we are busy fundraising to make sure no one eligible gets left behind due to lack of funds!
We are already underway – we have a GoFundMe page if you would like to help support the dancers :

TEAM B.A.D.
December 5, 2019
It was a long time in coming but worth the wait – finally, here are some of our TEAM B.A.D. Dancers in our lovely new tracksuits and accessories. We have personalised branded water bottles too that can be purchased.
Thanks to Natalie Sweet and Phillip Nuttall for initial designs. Natt and Phil also put together our fabulous new logo featuring Vicky Davies from a photography session with Syd Chapman.
Thanks also to Beverley Mapes and Joey Casey from Designs Alike Ltd in Portsmouth, who took those concepts and made sure all the colours were correct (matching to our new leotards) and the designs worked with the fabric patterns and gave us some other accessories options to play with too.
We are very pleased with the results and hope to see more and more of our students sporting their new funky gear – also designed to be worn in Street Jazz, Performance Squad, Conditioning, Contemporary and Musical Theatre Classes. (Not Ballet classes or Modern and Tap Grades that have more formal uniform requirements though 🙂 )
Orders will be taken once a month, first week of the month, please email badadditions@basingstokeacademy.co.uk
Go TEAM BAD !

Diploma Student Success
November 25, 2019
Congratulations to all 4 of our Diploma in Dance Education Students for passing their ISTD Modern Theatre practical modules this month and thanks to Vanessa, our Approved Tutor for guiding them through these tough examinations.
Well Done also to Lois who gained her Advanced 1 Modern with 90 and Dariana who was awarded Bronze Tap with 93!
We are especially proud to see that two of our successful Diploma students, now teaching staff, and who have been with Basingstoke Academy from a very early age, were some of Principal Tanya’s first students when she took over the school in 2003. She has watched over their growth and development over the years through all their grades and vocational examinations and is so pleased to see them now be successful in their their professional teaching studies.
Amber has worked for B.A.D. as an assistant and then teacher for a number of years, especially helping to develop our popular pre-school programme and has been key to number if our students gaining very good exam results in recent years.
Charlotte returned to us after spending 3 years at Wilkes Academy to graduate with a Diploma in Performing Arts. She has also been teaching and instrumental to recent exam success and last Summer represented us in Team England at the Dance World Cup in Portugal.
We find it very exciting and professionally fulfilling at B.A.D. that we can develop those students that really want a career in Performing Arts and here are just the latest examples. Watching our youngsters grow into competent young professionals makes everything worthwhile – including those that do not stay in the dance world – their dance education and experiences have a positive impact on their lives.
Charlotte will also be appearing in Aladdin at the Anvil this Christmas season as a professional dancer, alongside 8 of our younger students whilst Amber and the rest of the Team will be ensuring classes run as normal at the Academy up to the 14th December – RAD Ballet Exams on the 17th December of December for about 25 students too.
Don’t forget our Fire and Ice Christmas Party on the 8th December ! Ho! Ho ! Ho !
