Dance World Cup Portugal 2019

July 1, 2019

Super proud of these guys, Millie, Kirsten and Leanne   – stepping in at the last minute, with 6 weeks to go, to help out Gabriella White Academy of Dance.  They managed to get a Silver Medal (Ballet Quartet) , and a 4th (Song & Dance Duet) and 6th position Hopak Trio) which earn points for Team England out of the five dances they took to Portugal.  Huge thanks to Miss Gaby for asking us to collaborate and so lovely to work with Sophia and Havannah (who were also fabulous and got Silver for their tap duet and 4th for their Show Duet).  Thanks to the parents for running them around and making it happen at such short notice, including the elaborate National costumes.

We came out to Braga, Portugal on Thursday and they rehearsed that night and Saturday and danced competitively Friday and Sunday. They also took part in the Opening Ceremony around Braga.  They are all back home now with new friends to keep in touch with and tremendous memories whilst I await our senior dancer, Charlotte, to come out for her Show Dance Solo.

It is a great honour to be part of Team England supporting other Team England Dancers and also catching up with a teacher I know from Bonn, Margeret, that teaches also at our “Twinning” school Co-Leg in Euskirchen- a small world really !

Sophia and Havannah will also be guesting at our Moving Experience 2019 at the Haymarket 8pm 14th July

Making People Smile

June 12, 2019

Also a bit late in the news  – on 19th May a few of our dancers performed for Braeburn Lodge to add some sparkle to their day

The residents adored our students, despite some technical hitches with the CD Player but the show went on !  The residents had asked our dancers to come visit after coming to see The Secret Garden last year at our studios

Braeburn Lodge is a residential home located in Beenham, near Reading.

Opened in July 2018, Milkwood Care has totally transformed what used to be a public house, into a luxury 12 bedroom home for elderly residents.

Each of the 12 en-suite bedrooms are individually designed and styled, each featuring a walk in shower and private lounge area.

Residents and staff love this light and airy home that features generous living space and parking.

The home has retained many attractive, original character features of the old building. Everyone at the home enjoys scenic views and access to beautifully landscaped gardens, featuring an abundance of apple trees (hence the name ‘Braeburn Lodge’).

Great Performances

June 12, 2019

A little late as news but all our Squads performed at the Princes Theatre in Aldershot on the 18th May in association with Avenue Dance Company

They all had a wonderful afternoon and did BAD proud 🙂

They can be seen performing again at various events in town over the next month or so 🙂

All England Dance Regional Finals

June 11, 2019

Wow ! – Half term and last weekend were very busy with so many of our festival team members involved in The All England Dance Regional Finals for South East – held in the lovely Hawth Theatre in Crawley.  Very proud of everyone’s performances and fabulous marks – mainly Distinctions with Commendations and a few of Distinctions.  Excitingly Grace made the Dance Off for Modern Solo Section C, earning herself a Silver Medal.

No-one made Finals this time, but everyone danced their socks off with some exceptional performances, I am fairly sure we were pretty close in a number of cases, and most importantly everyone had a real ball and enjoyed watching some friends from other schools that we meet at various festivals going through to Finals.

Festival season is over now  – starting back with Tudor Rose in September and also looking at some other exciting options

We  do have a few dancers representing Team England in Dance World Cup in Portugal at the end of the month too but will post separately on that 🙂

Successful Duo dancing in Basingstoke Variety Show

June 6, 2019

Congratulations to Ava and Mia for successfully auditioning to perform at the Basingstoke Variety Show in October.  This show raises monies for the Mayor of Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council’s chosen charities.   The B.A.D. will have bigger presence next year when our rotation is due again but for 2019 we are proud to have Ava and Mia represent us with their Acro Duet.

This is a great Variety and tickets can be obtained from The Anvil’s Box Office

UK International Stars Finals Success

February 4, 2019

Yesterday the UK International Stars Finals took place at the New Wimbledon Theatre with three of our girls making the Finals having danced through the heats in Aldershot earlier in the year – well done to Millie, Megan and Amelia for making the Finals.

Sadly Millie was unable to dance as she was unwell  – Megan and Amelia had a fab day though and Amelia successfully came away with 2nd for her ballet solo. Excellent work !

Well done ladies 🙂
